Young bulls

Sires

BTB uses 13 to 15 month old bulls, with success.
The main drive for using young bulls is the shortening of the generation interval and tapping into the latest available genetics.
Every year we select two groups of three young bulls for our bull team.

GUIDELINES
  • Young bulls can service a number of females equal to their age in months.
  • Always use an unequal number of bulls in the team. (BTB uses 3 per team.)
  • Minimum scrotum size of 34cm(Simmentaler) and tested fertile.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Better semen quality and higher conception rates.
  • Less injuries because of fighting.
  • Young bulls maintain better condition because of intact teeth.
