About BTB

Johan and his late father started cattle farming operations in 1977 on the farm Boekenhoutfontein, near Rooiberg, in the now Limpopo Province. In late 2003 Johan and Annemarie purchased two portions of the farm Schoemansfontein close to Hartbeesfontein, North West Province.

In 2004 Simmentalers were selected from 26 breeders countrywide to lay the foundation of the Stud. The Stud was originally named Schoemansfontein Simmentalers but, was later changed to BTB being an abbreviation for Boekenhout Trust Boerdery, our farming entity.

The 2015 study tour to Australia reaffirmed our mission for BTB Simmentalers, with even more focus on fertility and selection for traits that will drive our clients' profits and ensure sustainability of their beef farming operations.
