28 October 2015: Gaborone
Johan presented an intensive one day Breedplan course to a audience of farmers and Industry leaders held at the Agricultural College. The attendants were versed in bull buying for profit. Portions of the lectures are available for download.
17 October 2015: Schoemansfontein
Christiaan Duff of Angus Australia photographed at the annual Prosim lecture. His lecture titled "Getting the most out of your cow herd through selection for fertility" was one of the highlights of the year.

Christiaan also inspected and evaluated the BTB cowherd. His international experience in cowherd fertility and efficiency assisted BTB to further refine our breeding goals. The single 42day mating season is on our the horizon.

On 30 June Johan delivered his new EBV lecture series at a judge’s course in Windhoek, also attended by breeders from across Namibia. The new course covers four lectures from the basics to selection indexes. Portions of the lectures are available for download.

BTB recently tested 6 bulls from the same contemporary group, sired by two of our herd sires at Armoedsvlakte. We are not proponents of growth tests, but are mainly interested in the Nett feed intake data obtained at centralized testing stations.

The 2013 summer bull calves were tested in a phase D-type on farm test. Our next test will be formally registered with the ARC to obtain more carcass and measurement data on our drive for total testing. Selection from the farm test delivered excellent yearling bulls. BTB continually strive to increase the rate of genetic progress by using yearling bulls and calving heifers early at 24 months.
The 2015 phase D-type on farm has just strarted.
STUD SIRE PROGRAM
One of our senior stud sires ASM0921 is on his way to WALKRAAL as part of our bull exchange scheme. The aim of the exchange program to establish better performance links for enhanced Breedplan EBV evaluations [
